They were ok. [The construction actually encouraged me] to do some major renovations on my house. It turned out great and I used a local contractor who specializes in high end kitchen and bathroom renovations. www.conceptbuilders.biz I don't usually give props but it's hard to find a good contractor and they are in Glendora. I'm happy we decided not to get a new place and just redo our kitchen and bathrooms.

G.T. comments on Glendora Offers the Unseen Hiking Adventure!!

Glendora is full of trails, you just have to know where to find 'em. I recommend the Garcia trail near the fire station on Sierra Madre Blvd. and the Colby Trail at the northern end of Lorraine Ave.

My daughters, ages 4 & 9, have made it to the top of both and the views are well worth the sweat. An added bonus is frequent deer sightings.

Happy trails.

RoBert comments on Unwind After the Daily Grind

Great Call Zack!

I have been there myself a few times since they opened, and have had the same sandwich you had, and I have to say I was very impressed. The service and atmosphere was great, and the food was delicious. I have had their coffee of the day and their Italian soda, and everything so far has been great. They have earned my business, thanks Zack and thanks Daily Grind!

RoBert comments on Election Day is Coming Up!

I am glad that someone is speaking up for getting out to the polls and voting! Our fore fathers earned our right to vote through their blood and sacrifice and to not vote or show some concern for the direction of our country does nothing to improve our country, only hurt it. I have heard proposals in different reports of people wanting to make Election Day a national holiday, do you think this will drive more people to the polls, or give more people an excuse to take a vacation and not vote?

S.Platt comments on Churches in Glendora

I grew up at Grace Church of Glendora, a bible believing church with good music and great people. They've got a great sports program for all ages! After we I got married, we wanted a church of our own. Since I grew up there and my husband didn't, we wanted a church that could be OUR church, as opposed to MY church.

We tried Church of the Open Door. :) We've been going there for about 6 years now and have become members. It's like our family. Sound teaching, great music, awesome people, I am SO glad we found a place to call home. Some churches can be a little intimidating, a little distant, but we felt very comfortable here. Our first Sunday, this nice older gentleman came up a greeted us. We were surprised when he got up and preached! He was the first one to greet us, and he was (and is) the senior pastor :)

Contemporary service is at 11:00a.m. Located all the way up Grand Ave. off of Sierra Madre: 701 W. Sierra Madre, Glendora, Ca.
Call for more info: 626-914-4646

Jay comments on Great Things for I Shop Glendora

Thank goodness for the Glendora Market Place.

Steffani comments on The Dark Knight

I have to just add my two cents...clink, clink. (GO TARTANS!) And these Foothills reminded him of that Scottish glen apparently, so he put the names of the two most beautiful and cherished things to him and came up with, you guessed it...Glendora!

If you are interested in more interesting history of Glendora, contact the Glendora Historical Society at www.ci.Glendora.ca.us. They are located at: 314 N Glendora Ave Glendora, CA 91741 or call them: (626) 963-0419. There are places where the historical society has posted markers in the city with early photos of the town, at the place the photo was originally taken, with a brief message about what you are looking at. It's like a tour through time in the streets of Glendora.

For instance: on Glendora Ave in downtown, there are markers showing where the old bank used to be. It's been the "Village Vault" for years and years, but the original vault is still there for you to see. There is the house at the NE corner of Glendora Ave and Sierra Madre...that was the original mayor's house.I'm not sure if that was Mr.Whitcomb or not. There are markers ALL OVER town!

Point is: Glendora is a 'treasuretown' of history...take some time to get to know it's past!!!

Steffani Platt (AKA Splatt) comments on Top 5 Reasons I'm Looking Forward to Autumn

See...there really are people who like Fall better than the popular 'summer fun'. I too enjoy the best ever drink created by Starbucks: THE Caramel Apple Cider. That said, here is my recipe for an enjoyable Fall:

-MUST have 3 cups of 'life soundtracks' (as I call them) provided by Karen Carpenter and James Taylor (Gwen-I am SO glad that someone my age not only KNOWS him but LIKES him) :)

- Of course, as many gallons of carmel apple cider, of course!

- My Burberry Scarf

-$$ in my bank account to start and finish my Christmas shopping by the first week of December ( not including wrapping!)

-blankets and good coffee mugs

-plenty of wood for the fireplace to glow

-and most important- Family and friends to keep company with, share laughter with and to "Fall into Fall" with!

The nice part about my recipe is that everything can be found right here in Glendora!!! (except maybe the Burberry scarf, Glendora needs a Nordstroms)
